In the News: Roger Thomas Collection Arrives at S. Harris Part 2

Five-star interior designer Roger Thomas recently collaborated with S. Harris to make a sophisticated, engaging and memorable fabric collection. The Roger Thomas collection is rich with festive color, captivating texture, creative styling and elegant simplicity. Roger’s design touch inspires both the hospitality and residential markets.

Inspired by his worldly travels and library of sketchbook drawings, the collection is a true reflection of what Roger calls “memory inspirations." He has been somewhere and has seen something that inspired a thought, and in turn, a design. Ahwahnee Sheer draws inspiration from a page right out of his sketchbook and captures the graphic design of a sycamore tree’s bark.

Roger’s love of vintage Chanel suits, and the ones his mother and her friends wore to tea parties, is modernized in Mayfair Tweed. Memory inspirations continue to pop up throughout this collection, drawing from Roger’s childhood to his recent travels; Excelsior Sheer brings the random patterning from a game of Pick-up Sticks to life in an exquisite embroidery with an all-over random repeat. Fittingly, each pattern bears the name of a legendary hotel, names synonymous with a life of luxury travel.

“I wanted to create a collection that I could use in my own design work but, at the same time, would inspire my peers to use,” adds Roger. “The warmth and softness that textiles bring to interiors is key to the success of the space. I am always looking for innovative ways to use fabrics and celebrate their qualities; through this collection we were able to do just that.”

In the News: Roger Thomas Collection Arrives at S. Harris (Part 1 of 2)

S. Harris has recently collaborated with five-star interior designer Roger Thomas to make a sophisticated, engaging and memorable fabric collection. The Roger Thomas collection is rich with festive color, captivating texture, creative styling and elegant simplicity. Roger’s design touch inspires both the hospitality and residential markets.

“I have admired Roger’s interiors long before I even knew who he was,” said Harvey Nudelman, president of S. Harris and a friend. “His love of fabrics and flamboyant use of color are showcased in every detail of his interiors, and we have captured his trademark design style in this new collection.”

The Roger Thomas collection illustrates Roger’s love of textured weaves and the versatility of sheers. Its buttery, soft textures provide a durable cover, and luxurious, wide-width sheers create a seamless drape for residential and hospitality applications. Bright, clear colors are paired with neutral grounds to create a broad appeal for traditional, modern and boutique interiors.

“My approach to design has always been to create dramatic spaces inspired by classic proportions and comfort but infused with a contemporary sense of simplicity and relaxed luxury,” Roger said. “This collection blends classic beauty with elements of surprise that perform in demanding environments and maintain the qualities of luxury and elegance.”

Stay tuned for more on the Roger Thomas collection tomorrow, and in the meantime, stop by the S. Harris showroom and view the collection online.

Product Spotlight: Energized & Inspired Interiors with S. Harris

Texan sisters and noted designers, Susan and Katharine Hable, have teamed up with S. Harris for a whimsical and energetic upholstery collection named Hable Construction after their New York City-based textile company.

Known for its lively range of color, the high-performance collection is their first venture into the hospitality market and adds to S. Harris’ growing diversity of boutique designer programs.

Applying practicality, sophistication and timelessness to their designs, the Hable sisters’ collection follows their hallmark aesthetic of vintage, graphic fabrics, abstracted motifs and colorful, hand-drawn patterns. The brush-stroke effects and deliberate imperfections add personality and an element of fun throughout the collection.

Traditional herringbone design in Akara Falls is refreshed by natural brush strokes and vibrant mix of colors; Aloha is woven to imitate a block print; the slight imperfections give character to its chenille circles; water, waves and surf art are behind Volcano’s chunky, yet soft and luxurious chenille texture.

"Whether it’s Egyptian architecture, a Scandinavian roof top, an antique Bolivian textile or the local flower market, happiness spurs inspiration," said Susan Hable. "Throw in a touch of sparkle and a punch of color – that’s icing on the cake."

Jeffrey Michaels Showroom Shines in the Face of Adversity

The showroom was formed the year after Hurricane Andrew blew through Florida in 1992 by dynamic duo, Diana and Michael Feibelman.
Jeffrey Michaels was first as an intimate 1,900 square feet showroom with a handful of wallcovering and fabric lines.

They moved to a 5,500 square feet showroom in order to accommodate their rapidly growing collection, which now included Fabricut, S. Harris, Vervain and Stroheim, Hartmann & Forbes.

Yet again, they are expanding to a renovated space, now 7,700 square feet, which will have a grand re-opening party on December 8 to celebrate their wonderful world of design.

Save the date and we hope to see you there!

East Meet West with Robert Kuo Fabrics

S. Harris – Robert Kuo collection
Referred to as the Imperial craftsman of the 21st Century, Robert Kuo incorporates his Chinese heritage and artistic sensibility to his ever-growing collection of decorative arts, furniture, stone and tile, lighting and now, fabrics.

Kuo draws regularly on diverse influences ranging from the Han and Ming dynasties of China to the Deco and Nouveau periods of the West. He is inspired by both the organic forms of nature and the cultural motifs of man.

Robert Kuo for S. Harris is a reflection of these elements. The collection is based on the lines and textures of his current repoussé, cloisonné, and lacquer pieces beautifully interpreted into fabrics for the home. The patterns are simple, elegant and modern: evoking a feeling of balance, harmony and calm. Natural fibers are used throughout in an earthy, neutral palette encompassing silk, linen, chenille, matelassé, embossed velvet and innovative pleating techniques.

Robert Kuo for S. Harris is classic and timeless; imminently suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Pictured is pattern Cloisonné in colors Beryl, Dove and Red Clay.
