B.Berger joins the Duralee family

Last week, Duralee announced that it was adding the B.Berger family of companies from Rellig Inc. to its house. This adds B. Berger and Bailey & Griffin fabrics to the Duralee showrooms, including Chase & Company Drapery Hardware. It also brings with it B. Berger's three drapery hardware lines—Chase & Company, The Finial Company and Paris Texas Hardware.



The over 80 year-old fabric and trim company, previously underexposed brand, offers great colors and textures which will be a terrific supplement to the Duralee line. It will add hardware to their extensive product assortment for the first time.



Stop by and see the assortment as it's added to the Duralee showrooms at the DCOTA (Suite C-100), DDB (Floor 8), PDC (Suite B601) and DCH (Suite 132).

Get sheer with Clarke & Clarke

Just in time to carry that airy, summer vibe into fall, Clarke & Clarke has introduced the Natura Sheers collection. The eight linen designs comes in wide widths and a palette of neutrals ranging from ivory and cream to pebble and taupe.



As much as we love the bright, bold colors of summer, there's something so serene and calming about this palette. And it lets the textures speak for themselves.



And here's a clever application for sheers - when you don't really want to hide the silhouette of your chairs:

Thursday at the DCH...

This Thursday, August 16, discover how to "Live in Harmony with your Environment". Sounds like something we all need! Duralee/Highland Court at the DCH (Suite 132) will host a 10:00am presentation by Susan Daniels, an interior designer and certified Feng Shui consultant. Daniels will share tips on de-cluttering and finding balance in your home, and how to design a space that implements Feng Shui principles for a holistic well-being. It sounds just right as we turn back to reality with summer winding down.

Clarke & Clarke's Clarisse Wallcoverings

Last week we shared the latest Clarke & Clarke fabrics, now available at Duralee. We promised to give you a peek at the Clarisse line of wallcoverings, too, and we keep our word!

Available in 12 colorways, the wallcoverings are all made in the UK. Designs include topiary, toile de Jouy and stripes, many inspired by historical French documents.

New Clarke & Clarke fabrics at Duralee

When you're back from the beach, stop by Duralee and see the new arrivals from Clarke & Clarke. Clarke & Clarke was founded in 1999 by brothers Duncan and Lee Clarke. Clarisse is a range of 42 fabrics, all prints on 100% linen.


The soft, muted palette includes both Duck Egg and Wedgwood blues as well as fresh Rose and Raspberry and a more neutral Charcoal.


There are coordinating wallcoverings, too, which we'll share soon. Designs range from florals to stripes and etchings.

Performance textiles talk at DCOTA

Save the Date: DCOTA Designer Seminar Series with Libby Marx

The magic and power of color is changing 2012, and the DCOTA Designer Seminar Series lets you watch it. Join designer Libby Marx as she uses the new Eileen Kathryn Boyd collection for her special presentation The Magic and Power of Color! Watch it—it is Changing!

Color specialist Libby Marx shows how Boyd is a leader in the fabric and color world, starting with a review of the meaning of colors. Libby will also cover how some colors are taking on a new interpretation in today's society, having a direct impact on how we decorate homes and live with color.

Libby claims that we need to heighten our selections of the millions of colors available to us, and that using Boyd's fabrics can help us find the combinations to do so. Boyd's fabrics also show us how these combinations are being welcomed into the design industry and how they are being used to bring an exhilarating approach.

DDB Spring Market Buzz: Chatting with Philip Gorrivan at Duralee

We had the chance to chat with designer Philip Gorrivan at the Duralee showroom and ask about Philip Gorrivan II, his newest collection for Highland Court.

"I really had the best time creating this collection," said Philip. "It differs from my first collection with Highland Court, which was about luxury. Philip Gorrivan II is all about luxuriously simple!"

We asked Philip what the direction was for this collection and if he had any particular favorite fabrics.

"The direction was pretty clear. I wanted versatility in the fabrics with the intention of making a collection that could be used in any kind of atmosphere, in any kind of region, and at any type of year. I have several international clients who I kept in mind, but I didn't forget about my fashionable city clients either."

"I really can't choose just one fabric to call my favorite, but my kids can! They picked their favorites based on which fabrics were named after them!"

Product Spotlight: Philip Gorrivan II at Highland Court

From homes to fabrics, Philip Gorrivan is arguably best known for allowing beauty and livability to co-exist.





As a follow up and complement to his wildly-successful first collection, Philip has created Philip Gorrivan II, a five-color-book set of sophisticated, tailored designs at Highland Court.





"Philip Gorrivan II is really a departure from Philip Gorrivan I," said a Duralee representative. "It captures the essence of the organic, aged beauty found in natural landscapes, lush geometrical European gardens, classical architecture, antiquities and curiosities. It's luxuriously simple and how often can you say that about something? The collection optimizes versatility with fabrics that are as appropriate for a rustic lodge in the country as they are in a New York City townhouse!"





The colors include Bone, Saddle, Patina/Olive, Blush and Kohl. The books range from classic neutrals and romantic rouges to caramel cappuccinos and peacock feathers.

Dining in Decadence at Dawnridge (Part 2)

Cocktails and dinner at Dawnridge, the Beverly Hills home of Hutton and Ruth Wilkinson celebrated Philip Gorrivan's newest collection with Duralee and Highland Court. The ornate interiors paired with Philip’s fabrics made the perfect backdrop for a magical evening.

"The evening was fantastic and Dawnridge is so very fantasy-like," said Randall Landers, Showroom Manager of Duralee Fabrics at the Pacific Design Center (PDC). "There is lots so see inside, but the gardens were fantastic and so magical as well!"

"The table cloth fabric from the new Philip Gorrivan collection looked great with all of the other colors in the Dawnridge dining room. Even the powder room was exciting to see all the details. The service staff's fab outfits and great-feathered hat was such fun! The experience was just over the top wonderful and I can't wait to be back."

Philip toasted Hutton for opening his home for the event. "There are just so many layers—the house is so very authentic," Philip said. "I've visited Dawnridge several times and every time I visit, I see something different and more amazing! That main room when you walk in with the candelabra combined with the wait staff in costume and the glamorous group of people attending was spectacular!"

Random Encounters: Brice Gaillard

Spotted in the D&D Building, Brice Gaillard was wearing her designer hat—but on other days, she's a stylist, and still other days, a freelance writer. When Go Design Go found her, the native Floridian was stepping into Kravet on the hunt for bold drapery textiles for a Westchester project. We're betting it took her forever to make it to those wings since she could barely make it past the entrance displays without stopping to compliment what she saw. She grabbed a couple throw pillows in a pattern called Jerry and rattled off her to-do list for the afternoon. After Kravet, she'd visit Pindler & Pindler, which she said had many affordable options, Duralee, Robert Allen/Beacon Hill and Fabricut, which she loves for its patterned fabrics. Before parting, Brice pointed the overscale floral, which was framed and mounted on the showroom walls. "I really like the idea of fabric or wallpaper as art," she said. Have you ever done that in a project, we asked? "Only for editorial!"
