Specialists of Design: Cory Pernicano at PDC (Part 2)

The Design Professionals of the Cohen Design Centers get the inside scoop on design whether you’re in New York, Florida, Texas or California. Providing a unique Consulting and Buying Program for those not currently working with a designer, they extend the coveted privilege to select from the textiles and furnishings available throughout the design centers.

Here's more from the PDC's Design Professional Cory Pernicano.

GDG: Where did your interest in design originate?

CP: I’ve always had an eye and an interest in design from a very young age—around 9. I would rearrange my bedroom monthly and also help out friends with theirs! I used to love to go to the swap meets with my father and go straight to the antique booths where I would merrily put down all my allowance money for that perfect vase or knickknack!

GDG: What are some of your personal design preferences?

CP: I believe that flowers and lighting are some of the most important aspects to a room. I always use fresh flowers and think everyone else should do the same. I recommend keeping it simple with only one type of stem. Flowers are just that extra touch of sophistication and cost only pennies!

GDG: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

CP: I have a large collection of table lamps, bud vases and books. I always use these items in a project to sort of put the finishing touches in a space. I think the vases and flowers are the “jewelry” of a room. Whether it is a contemporary space or a traditional one, I find these items to be the most rewarding achievement!
