Sustainable Spotlight: Wool For a Better World

Clean, natural New Zealand wool rugs are on sale this month at the Decorative Center Houston. When we asked what makes wool so sustainable, we were not prepared for a wave of wooly wisdom: First, wool is biodegradable and recyclable (after your living room, it can move to the garden as fertilizer and mulch.) Second, it can absorb indoor air contaminants and neutralizes them. It also absorbs and desorbs water vapor helping regulate indoor humidity—and is inherently fire safe. Wool has a natural, permanent ability to release soil and resist stains, and therefore require less frequent cleaning.

Not to mention, it sounds pretty comfy to rest our toes on something that grew on the back of a sheep from the mountains of New Zealand.

The sale takes place at DCH‘s The Houston Showroom with a 20% discount for designers.
