DCOTA 'Star on the Rise' Donanne Bruce-Ramos (Part 1 of 2)

Recently, we've been spending time getting better acquainted with a few of the awarded Stars on the Rise from DCOTA's Stars of Design Awards. Next up is Donanne Bruce-Ramose of Rain Design Inc. Based in Miami, Donanne's interior design firm thrives, and she's keeping up with it all in great style and hot design.
Donanne grew up in British Columbia, Canada, before moving to Southern California to study interior design at UCLA and begin her design career. During her time in Los Angeles, she didn't let a moment pass without putting it to good use. Donanne interned at a high-end kitchen design studio, worked for a furniture designer, managed multiple retail showrooms for a furniture company in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, and simultaneously started a freelance career.
Upon moving to Miami in 2006, she helped open the sole Florida Williams-Sonoma Home location and quickly became the design manager. After a couple of years, and preferring more flexibility in her schedule, she opted to re-establish her design company. The change in locale, from Canada to California and later to Miami, has only added to Donanne's creativity and has ultimately led to Rain Design's success.

"My inspiration comes from the natural elements of the geographic location, climate, and landscape," Donanne said. "I believe that water, natural light, and the textures of nature should be brought inside and emphasized. In addition to being influenced by the beauty of nature, my favorite design is a classic, timeless look that also emphasizes the client's personality, heritage, and lifestyle. A gallery wall representing the client's family and places they have traveled is one of my favorite additions to a home—or even an office."
For Donanne, her passion for interior design keeps her loving what she does, but she also has a couple of sources she admits are her true muses: her two daughters, Charlize and Holland.

"I believe that good design is inspiring and evokes intrigue and passion when you see something that is beautiful," said Donanne. "With interior design, often you have to incorporate many existing factors into the process—it is rare when you start with a blank slate. I think it is key that interior designers incorporate not only their “vision” but also marry these other factors successfully."
Stay tuned to GoDesignGo tomorrow to learn about the amazing project Donanne has been busy with lately.
