Guest Blogger: Julieta Talks Shop with Bradley Thiergartner (Part 1 of 2)

Guest Blogger and DesignIntake writer Julieta Alvarez is on a roll, chatting up the designers of this year's Holiday House showhouse. Julieta now chats with the duo behind Bradley Thiergartner Interiors, Benjamin Bradley and David Thiergartner. Here's what Julieta learned.

JA: How did you two meet and realize that you both shared the same design vision?

BT: We worked at a large retailer here in the city and would spend our “down time” on the sales floor talking about our interests and design. We found we had a common language that neither of us had ever found with a fellow designer. We spent many hours talking about how to make our ideas a reality and finally had the chance to do so when a woman who became our first client approached us.

The business began as a part-time endeavor and grew into what it is today. We have been in business for nearly 20 years at this point!

JA: What are the talents that make you such a great duo in interior design?

BT: David is a “big picture” guy and I [Benjamin] am a detail type of person. David sees when walls need to be torn down and I am already thinking about what type of lamp and shade would be appropriate for the room.

JA: How is each of your talents complimenting to the others?

BT: We have similar but different tastes in many ways, and so we each bring to the table a different perspective, which, as individuals, we might not have approached before. David’s style is more bold and industrial while I am more traditional and a bit more formal.

JA: What are your go-to products in design?

Stay tuned to GoDesignGo tomorrow for more from Julieta on Benjamin Bradley and David Thiergartner of Bradley Thiergartner and learn what they can't live without and where they'll be holiday shopping this year.
