Big things are happening at Donghia this year. Last week, the company’s President Crans Baldwin and Creative Director Chuck Chewning hosted a cocktail party to unveil plans for their newest showroom and celebrate the official merger of Donghia and Bergamo Fabrics.

Special guests included Rubelli Owner Nicolo Rubelli and Sahco President Christoph Haussler.

"We got an absolutely phenomenal turnout," said Crans. "The crowd was mostly clients and press, but one of the greatest things was that instead of company representatives attending, the designers themselves were coming. Scott Salvator, Jamie Drake, Dina Frank, President of Mancini Duffy, and Vernon Evenson, President of Evenson, were all in attendance, which is very exciting for us."

Dina said that when she heard the news, she had to know what was going on first hand.
"The fact that people like Dina want to know what is going on with us tells us we're doing a good thing,” said Crans. “She is also testament to how many different facets of the industry were in attendance. You turned around and saw another person you were thrilled to see and couldn't wait to talk to. For over 100 people in attendance, that’s pretty terrific.”

The overall reaction to the big news was overwhelmingly positive. "People are excited because we're doing something new and that means that things are starting to move forward," said Crans. "We are all hoping that we've turned the corner in the economy and we're looking forward to seeing signs that show that it's happening. I really believe it is."

Stay tuned to GoDesignGo in the coming months as we document Donghia's new showroom progress on the DDB's fifth floor.
