Event Recap: Hall of Fame Gala

This past Wednesday, the design community gathered at the Waldorf Astoria’s Grand Ballroom for Interior Design magazine’s 26th annual Hall of Fame gala, honoring Paige Rense with the first-ever “Design Icon” award.

Our pals from the DDB, Bobby Contini, Vice President of Marketing Cohen Design Centers, and Jason Lowe, Director of Design Professionals at the D&D Building, attended as guest of Clo and Charles S. Cohen. The Cohens also hosted photographer Scott Frances and his wife Patti Weinberg, interior designer Scott Salvator and his partner Michael Zabriski, Vice President Leasing Cohen Design Centers Steve Fredricks and his wife and Anne-Rose.

“It was a whole lot of fun to watch Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen host, she was totally excited, vibrant and full of energy," Bobby said. "And as far as Paige Rense goes; the woman is an industry icon. Her being awarded this year is well deserved."

“Paige has proven herself to be one of the most influential and important editors of all time in our industry. She has brought attention to the work of so many innovative and trend-setting designers—who better than her to be the first Design Icon winner?” said Jason.

What was the best part of the event, we asked?

"The sheer number of design luminaries from all aspects of the industry in one room, for one evening, interacting and honoring their peers and other leaders in the industry–all in the name of a good charitable cause The Alpha Workshops,” Jason said. “The Hall of Fame awards really is THE event of the year for the New York design community.”
