We hate to admit it but after already extending the end date of Architectural Photographer Scott Frances' MonoVisioN exhibit at the DDB, it's finally come time to bid it farewell.

The exhibit featured 68 large-scale framed photographs and will be on view in the newly renovated gallery space through August 19, at which point MonoVisioN will travel to DCOTA and DCH.

Event Spotlight: Artist’s Tour & Book Signing with Scott Frances

Architectural photographer Scott Frances' exhibit MonoVisioN at the DDB has been extended through August 19 due to the enormous response it has received since it opened June 21. Because of the success of his exhibit, Scott is hosting another artist's tour and book signing.

The exhibit features 68 large-scale framed photographs and will be on view in the newly renovated gallery space through August 19, at which point MonoVisioN will travel to DCOTA and DCH.

We couldn't be any more excited to announce that Architectural Photographer Scott Frances' exhibit MonoVisioN at the DDB has been extended due to the enormous response since it opened June 21.

Originally open through July 29, MonoVisioN is now open through August 19 before it moves on to the DCOTA. So if you've been on vacation or simply under a rock, click here to read about Scott's phenomenal exhibit.

The 68 large-scale works are on view in Suite 110 on the ground floor of the Annex Building at the DDB, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Event Recap: Scott Frances' MonoVisioN Rocks the DDB (Part 2)

We made sure to talk with as many of Scott Frances' fans as we could while attending the opening night of his exhibit MonoVisioN at the DDB's Annex Building last week. With so many A-list attendees, we learned from the industry's best why Scott's work has had such an impact.

Pilar Viladas, Design Editor for the New York Times, has written the text his photographs in several design books. Pilar shared what she enjoys most about working with Scott.

"Scott has always had such a devotion to his photography, it's truly a marvel to watch him work," said Pilar. "Perhaps one of the finest things about his photography of design and architecture is his loyalty to natural light and his dedication to a literally perfect capture."

Patti Frances, Scott's wife, agreed that Scott's dedication to perfection is a true rarity.

"I can't even explain how impressed I am with Scott when I've been present on a shoot," Patti said. "When we were in South Africa, everyone watching simply couldn't get over how determined he was. The sky was cloudy and the light wasn't ideal but Scott squeezed every single drop of light from the sky until he was satisfied with his work!"

Ashlee Harrison, Marketing Director of the DDB, didn't forget to add that not only the photography, but also the gallery space was part of Scott's mastery.

"Before this installation of MonoVisioN, this space was previously a showroom," said Ashlee. "Watching Scott's creative ability to help transform three floors of showroom space into an intimate and artistic exhibit is further proof of his talent."

Event Recap: Scott Frances' MonoVisioN Rocks the DDB (Part 1 of 2)

The DDB's Annex Building was the place to be last week where the celebration of Scott Frances' striking photographs filled all three floors. A stylish crowd made up of designers, editors and artists, the opening of MonoVisioN was an evening to remember.

We made our rounds and chatted with the guests to ask what they loved about Scott's work and what sets him apart.

"I've known Scott for years and I'm excited to be here to support his work," said architect Campion Platt. "What has always made Scott's work exceed the norm has been his understanding of design and of architecture. He has always been ahead of the curve in the technology he uses and has a clear and extensive understanding of a room and how it should be seen in a photograph."

Before we could asked Campion anything further, he dashed off to congratulate Scott in person. Before doing so, he introduced us to architect Alexander Gorlin, another long-time friend and colleague of Scott's.

"It's really obvious why Scott's work is so respected," Alexander said. "When you look at the composition and the perspective of his photography, you're able to appreciate the architecture and design in the picture as well as the skill and art of his work."

Interior designer Alexa Hampton caught up with us to talk about the long history her father, legendary interior designer Mark Hampton, and her company has had with Scott.

"I could go on and on and on and on about how much I love Scott's work," said Alexa. "There's a very good reason that my father and now I always use his photography. My dad respected the way Scott worked and appreciated his attention to detail in every single photograph. Scott and I have known each other for so long, I could talk about him until I'm blue in the face! I'll refrain though because blue isn't my best color!"

In the News: Scott Frances' MonoVisioN Arrived in New York City

Packed with A-list attendees last night’s kick-off party celebrated the opening of Architectural Photographer Scott Frances' exhibit MonoVisioN at the DDB's Annex Building. We got the chance to chat with Scott before the gallery was unveiled in New York City and learn a bit about the exhibit.

"This is actually my first exhibit in New York City," said Scott. "The exhibition in March at the Pacific Design Center was my first, and seeing my work printed on such a large scale has been really exciting for me. Having spent hours upon hours in post-production for the photographs in MonoVisioN paid off because now I can see it showcased!"

We asked Scott what he was looking forward to most as the exhibit moves around the country to each Cohen Design Center.

"I'm originally from New York City so after showcasing my work for the first time in L.A., the anticipation of it arriving here and being viewed in the D&D Building's Gallery space has been a really amazing thing to look forward to," Scott said.

Scott's first book MonoVisioN was written in conjunction with the exhibition, complete with a forward by Architect and Scott's close friend Richard Meier.

Event Spotlight: Scott Frances' MonoVisioN Exhibit at the DDB

The DDB is teeming with art this Summer, and now, after doing time at the Pacific Design Center, photographer Scott Frances' exhibition will open in New York City on June 21. MonoVisioN will feature 68 large-scale works on view in Suite 110 on the ground floor of the Annex Building at the DDB.

In conjunction with the exhibition, visitors may enter a special raffle for the chance to win one of three signed limited-edition print by Frances.

Frances is renowned for his architecture and lifestyle photography. His images reflect the synthesis of his interests in carefully balanced composition, using atmospheric and naturally motivated light. With a journalist’s need to tell a story simply, along with his passion for the decorative arts, his imagery bridges recurring themes throughout art history.

The exhibition coincides with the release of Frances’ first monograph of the same title with an introduction by Richard Meier, published by Pond Press. In the preface to MonoVisioN, Meier states: “A Scott Frances photograph captures all these ephemeral elements that I have always explored in my architectural work. The images in this book portray the qualities that give every space and building a sense of place, and the constant dialogue between the man-made and the natural. MonoVisioN becomes an exploration of solid and void, transparency and opaqueness, the rational and the intuitive, and an essay on composition.”

Frances’ exhibition begins a main feature of this year’s summer programming at the D&D Building. MonoVisioN will tour to the other Cohen Design Centers in South Florida and Houston following the show in New York.
