English designer Abigail Ahern leads International Design Master Class

Just two weeks ago, English interior designer Abigail Ahern checked into the Ace Hotel to instruct design-savvy New Yorkers in her design master class. Much to her surprise, Ahern's growing popularity brought in a crowd commuting much further than Staten Island for class that day. Designers from New Jersey, Chicago, London, and all the way from Australian cities Sydney, Perth and Melbourne, came to learn from the person recognized as "the coolest chic in interior design."

Stylist Jane Frost from Sydney is a keen follower of Ahern's blog and told us why she traveled even further than the instructor for a one-day class in New York.

"If I can combine coming to New York with seeing Abigail, it's a win-win," Frost said.

After taking the course, Frost learned to layer her space, to stop sticking to one layer, and to work the room. Frost leaves us with this advice: "Go with black man, funk it up a bit. Use a little bit of rock n roll and don't be frightened."

According to Ahern, the design master class takes decorating and throws it on its head, by doing some quirky and unusual things. She describes it as 'unconventional. tongue-and-cheek and eclectic" to reshape how most people feel about design. While in New York, Ahern was also shooting some of the most fabulous places all over the city for her book Decorating with Style. It is her dream to open a store here and finally become a part of New York's fast-paced atmosphere.

Abigail Ahern makes interiors feel magical and will continue to do so in her next design master class. To learn more about the class, designers may need to start looking for flights to Sydney before the next one fills up this October.
