Sharing her updates from Decorative Center Houston's Fall Market, Donna Youngblood told us what she loved from David Sutherland's seminar with Perennials. The showroom hosted Color Expert Kate Smith to discuss Color Trends: What's Now, What's Next with Sensational Color. Kate's presentation touched on the latest color trends now and what the hot hues will be in 2012-2013. Donna is an interior design student at Stephen F. Austin State University.

I was truly inspired by Kate Smith with Sensational Color presentation. Kate's audience was mesmerized by her discussion on current and future color trends, as we all absolutely love color. The color trends forecast was fascinating and Kate explained the results comprehensively.
As a Color Expert by trade, Kate was incredibly enlightening. She spoke of some of the color trends for the upcoming years and what influences color in design. The automobile industry is a major player in color trending as they are at the forefront of color technology and innovation. Who would have thought?
As for the future, Kate gave us her advice: "look for colors to be bolder in the coming year and look for 'odd, clashing' color combinations along with ways to bring another dimension into the use of color on walls in a space."
Kate explained that, aside from the automobile industry, fashion plays a role in the future predictions of interior design color, but that the two influence each other equally. "When in doubt, bold and fresh colors never fail and while we have recently experienced a more muted color schemes in the past few years, the bold hues are coming back with full force!"
