Save the Date: Suzanne Demish on Maria Pergay

Potterton Books hosts the first of this Fall's Lecture and Book Signing Series with Suzanne Demish on her comprehensive survey Maria Pergay: Complete Works 1957-2010.


Suzanne will explore the legenday French furniture designer's career that spans more than five decafes. Pergay designed her first collection of silver objects in 1957 and opened her first shop in 1960. She worked on custom projects for noted figures and is renowned for her use of stainless steel, which she began exploring in 1968 with the now iconic Flying Carpet daybed and Ring Chair.




Maria later combined it to striking effect with mother of pearl, lacquer and precious woods. Maria, now in her eighties continues to create work.


The event takes place October 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grolier Club in New York City. Admission is $30 and the book is available for purchase for $70. RSVP by emailing potterton.books@verizon.net or call 212-644-2292.
