Meet the Blogger: Crystal Gentilello Rues the Roost (Part 1 of 2)

The DDB's Fall Market Bloggers Lounge co-sponsored by GoDesignGo and Editor at Large will welcome 15 bloggers to cover market events. Today we want you to meet Crystal Gentilello, cofounder and editor in chief of Rue Magazine.

A true visionary and entrepreneur, Crystal founded the digital shelter publication in the summer of 2010 as a way to bring fresh content to a rapidly growing online design community. Considered a pioneer in digital publishing and an expert in new media, she is asked to speak regularly on topics about design, entrepreneurship and social media and stands at the forefront of change as the relationship between publishing and the design industry evolves.

The digital shelter publication runs itself on the breezy foundations that Crystal and co-founder Anne Sage put forth: the permission that every color can be your favorite color; inspiration is everywhere; a glass of pink champagne really does make a party; friendship can be forged across continents by only a kind word and a shared lust for leopard print pillows.

Recently, Crystal was recognized by The New York Times in a piece entitled The Thriving Online Shelter Magazine Industry. The article acknowledges the rising popularity of digital publications and the immense potential of click-through technology that directs readers to the point of purchase. A long time design enthusiast, Crystal also writes interiors-driven content for her popular blog, Plush Palate, which enjoys thousands of readers each day.

"My favorite thing about blogging is the connections I make with like-minded individuals," Crystal said. "The design blog community is an incredibly supportive and collaborative one and friendships are forged easily. Some of my best friends are gals I've met through Plush Palate and many of my proudest career moments, like launching Rue Magazine, are thanks to the doors that blogging has opened up to me."

Stay tuned to GoDesignGo to learn more about Crystal and Rue Magazine.
