Meet the Blogger: Jennifer Boles is the Peak of Chic (Part 2)

Yesterday, we introduced you to 'blogosphere's darling,' Jennifer Boles. The founder of The Peak of Chic, Jennifer is one of the bloggers participating in the DDB's Bloggers Lounge during Fall Market. We sat down with her to learn more about her personal style and passions.

GDG: What are some of your favorite things about your blog?

JB: I love the research, the feedback and the exposure to the newest and best. What I appreciate most about my blog are the opportunities that I have had to meet others who are as passionate about design as I. I have so many readers who are noted authors, designers, historians, and their feedback, emails and comments have really allowed me to broaden my horizons. I think that I have learned more from my readers than from anybody or anything else!

GDG: What are a few fundamental elements to the style of your space?

JB: I love to decorate my home, but I try to avoid making it look too decorated. I prefer a layered look that evolves over time. Of course, it’s hard to be patient while looking for those perfect pieces for one’s home, but it’s so much better to do so rather than buying everything at one time.

I love to mix traditional pieces and antiques with contemporary furniture, especially furniture that is lacquered or that has chrome or brass details. I also prefer contemporary art in my home and I absolutely love wallpaper. Both the walls and ceiling of my study are papered in a Hinson wallpaper that I adore.

GDG: Were there any trends this summer that you especially loved--or didn't?

JB: I’m glad to know that we’re still having a “blue” moment as it’s my favorite color. It’s also nice to see brass coming back into style. I’ve always used brass accents in my home because it adds a little glimmer and warmth to the room.  Just stay away from the really shiny lacquered brass--that should be avoided at all costs!

GDG: What are you looking forward to seeing during the DDB's Fall Market?

JB: I always love to see the latest fabric collections because using the latest fabrics for pillows or tablecloths is such a great way to freshen up a room. I’m also anxious to see what LĂ©ron has to offer. As far as I’m concerned, you can never have too many cocktail napkins or guest hand towels!

GDG: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

JB: I know that it’s considered old fashioned, but I love antique porcelain and ceramics and try to collect pieces when I can. Albert Hadley is my idol; the man can do no wrong in my eyes. I’m also addicted to Christopher Spitzmiller lamps!
