Product Spotlight: RUG-ART Reinterprets the Star Anis Fruit

RUG-ART introduces Spice, a soft cut-pile Himalayan wool carpet inspired by the star anis fruit. This bold reinterpretation by Sigal Sasson, designer and company principal, depicts an abstraction of the flower as it’s seen in bundles in Indian spice markets.

"This is one of the most beautiful new rugs," said a sales representative. "I think the designers and their clients alike will not only love this rug, but the inspiration behind it as well!"

Spice is made from pure Himalayan highland wool imported from Tibet in raw form. The wool is then hand washed, dried naturally in the sun, hand carded, spun and dyed, using Swiss dyes. Each rug is hand knotted in accordance with ancient Tibetan technique. Wool, silk, mohair and pashmina, as well as many other fibers are incorporated into Spice to achieve texture and luxurious softness.
