Gracie is Back in The D and D

For over 100 years, Gracie has produced exquisite hand-painted wallpapers, Asian antiques and custom cashew-lacquer furniture and accessories. This April 5th, Gracie will return to their roots at the D & D Building, after they relocated in downtown Manhattan. Initially, in 1969, Gracie had a large space in  D & D building’s new north wing.  This move to the design center greatly increased market exposure, and the company thrived in its new environment into the 1990’s.  Now, they return with many new handmade products and beautifully detailed pieces of furniture to the 14th floor, in a3,500 sq. ft. space in Suite 1411.

“Returning to the D&D is a bit like a trip home,” added Chairman Brian Gracie. “I began my career with our firm just as we first moved to the building in 1969, and we thrived there for over 20 years. We look forward to re-establishing the D&D Building as our headquarters.”

Gracie was established in 1898 by Charles R. Gracie, who started his business as a custom carver and gilder.   In addition to producing handpainted wallpapers in China, Gracie has an art staff in New York City.  The New York studio produces custom murals, performs restoration on antique wallpapers, and also produces custom lacquer furniture of the highest quality.  Furthermore, Gracie deals in fine antique Chinese furniture and porcelain.  The full range of products can be seen in the new New York showroom, which  or on their website at www.graciestudio.com
