Despite its name, no cashew nuts were harmed in the making of this darling desk by Gracie, or its lacquer finish. The oils of the cashew are excreted from the cashew shell to make the lacquer finish, which is a traditional Japanese practice.
"Cashew lacquer is Gracie’s signature finish," said Mike Gracie, President of Gracie. "It has been applied to this piece in many hand-rubbed coats."
Mike expressed his love for the depth and character of the piece. “The crackle effect in the lacquer was developed by my father Brian, and my sister Jennifer designed the form of the desk and it’s bold orange color. It’s a real family effort, just like everything in Gracie."
Stop by Gracie to see this piece in person—the Blood Orange color is simply too to miss.
