The newly renovated Italian Fortuny showroom recently held a special preview of its newest pillow collection by interior designer Malcolm James Kutner, complete with vino and antipasti. We couldn't resist attending to sneak a peak at the beautiful collaboration between two of our favorite design teams.
Glowing in an amber light, the Fortuny showroom was comfortably packed with designers and press who came to get a glimpse at Fortuny's newest pillow collection by Malcolm. Among the glorious Fortuny fabric-covered walls and shelves, Malcolm’s artistically crafted pillows were the guests of honor.
Malcolm gleamed as he shared with small crowds huddled around him about his custom-made pillows. He recounted how he was able to manipulate and transform the already impeccable Fortuny fabric into pillows that suddenly made one see the fabric in a whole different light.
Using the basic patterns of the Fortuny fabric, Malcolm noticed the panels as a whole and then, using his genius and creative mind, snipped a fabric here, rotated a pattern there, and instantly came up with a pillow that suddenly had more character and interest than the panel of fabric itself—if that could be even be possible.
