We joined Silver Lining Interiors and Acker Merrall & Condit Winery, America's oldest wine shop, for an night of fabulous wine and fantastic people for The Essentials of Fine Wine last week. Our crash course in the art of wine tasting was only second to the A-list attendees we spent the evening with.
David Hamburger, director of Acker Merrall & Condit, made sure all in attendance understood that the art of understanding fine wine was similar to that of our acute tastes in music or the kind of interpretations we practice when in a museum looking at art.

The audience indulged in decadent hors d'oeuvres while testing our palettes to the ordinary, good, fine and great wines.
"It's all about understanding and appreciating the elements of what make a great wine," said David. "It's a science, but it's not rocket science. Many of us know how to critique the kind of music we like or interpret a beautiful painting—these skills are no different than how we should interpret fine wines!"

Amie Weitzman of Amie Weitzman Interiors, who we frequently spot at the DDB, was in attendance and chatted with us after David's crash course ended.
"I really love going to events like this where I'm learning something," said Amie. "You go to evenings such as this and you're seeing great figures in the design world and walking away having gained something useful and really fun!"

Patrik Lönn of Patrik Lönn Design chimed in to tell us how valuable the evening was for his business. "This was just the most perfect event and evening for too many reasons. How timely is it that a client of mine recently asked me to assist on a wine cellar project in their home! I didn't know much before tonight and now I understand simple things that will really benefit the design of the cellar. And this wine is fabulous—it's too good!"
We'll be back with more from Patrik Lönn and Amie Weitzman and the projects that they've been up to this summer, so check back with GoDesignGo for more.
