As a natural material, silks and grasscloths come with a users manual, and if they don't they should. There are several things to be aware of when working with them. Here are a few key points from our wallpaper hanging maestro, Michael Giordano Interiors.
- Natural is beautiful but delicate
- When you receive the rolls you should check your batch numbers to make sure they all coordinate Do this to make sure the color is the same
- Most companies recommend lining natural material papers for varying reasons: color saturation, locking seams and preventing staining
- Have your paperhanger apply 3 panels for inspection, and check the work to make sure the color is correct
- Be aware that the seams show with a natural product, so explaining the natural imperfections to your client in advance will make for a happy outcome
