Event Recap: Agostino Antiques Student Design Day Reception

Student Design Day at the DDB took place last week with the help of co-sponsors ASID and Editor at Large, and now we're bringing you the buzz from the day's events. The mini-market day kicked off with a breakfast and opening reception at Agostino Antiques, complete with a seminar on The Art of Collecting: Building an Affordable Art Collection, led by Carole Pinto, of Carole Pinto Fine Arts.

Carole explored XIXth and XXth European master painters whose works are technically and artistically outstanding and whose prices are affordable, stressing that "amazing art is by no means always unaffordable."

"The importance of many artists’ work can be illustrated in looking at the works they've created in full," said Carole. "Developing a discriminating eye and being able to understand what constitutes value in a work of art is important in the ability to collect fine art."

The Agostino showroom was packed with students, who were anxious to continue their day after Carole's educational seminar.

"I loved attending the breakfast and lecture from Carole Pinto," said ASID student Jessica Williams. "I really enjoyed the presentation and received such valuable information from what she said."

Stay tuned to GoDesignGo all week for more on the DDB's recent Student Design Day.

Spring Market Buzz: David Netto's WSJ Window Display

Interior Designer David Netto was the mastermind designer behind the DDB's Spring Market window display for WSJ Magazine. The window paid tribute to Spring Market Keynote What's Next in Decorating? moderated by WSJ Magazine Editor in Chief Deborah Needleman.

"I'm very excited to see the response that the window display gets," David said. "It was a lot of fun to make and I really think that the Agostino Antiques chair is a perfect fit!"

Chris Bacchus and Stephen Warner of Agostino Antiques helped Netto install the display. Tell us what you think if you've already gotten to see it. If you haven't, make your way to the DDB lobby and check it out.
