Meet Manhattan-based Designer Sara Gilbane of Sara Gilbane Interiors, one of tradhome's 20 Young Traditional Designers to watch. Sara gave us some of her time amidst her busy schedule, which includes being a new mother to a five-month-old baby girl.
GDG: What collections or designers are you really looking forward to seeing this Spring?
SG: I am eagerly anticipating Farrow & Ball's new collections as well as the new colors they reprint their classic patterns in. I also absolutely love Lee Jofa's fabrics and wallpapers. Their (DDB) designer room on the left as you walk in is always something I look forward to. Hopefully one day I will get to design a room for them! And Oscar De La Renta's collection is stunning. I want to see more!
GDG: What are you particularly loving this Spring?
SG: There are so many! Cowtan & Tout's solid prints with bold colors and textures is a staple for me; Osborne & Little is always good for a 'wow' fabric; Holland & Sherry's custom embroidery line sends me over the moon and I pretty much love every fabric and piece in John Rosselli!
GDG: What should we keep our eyes open for this season?
SG: Similar to the Spring runways, I think we can look for lots of bold patterns and richly colored stripes in the interior design world.
GDG: What are some of the first things you're planning on doing once the weather is warmer?
SG: New York City is one of the best cities in the world and once the weather is consistently warm, I plan on walking everywhere! This winter was unbearable. Being stuck inside with a five-month-old baby is less than thrilling! Hopefully my little girl Virginia will make her maiden voyage to the DDB very soon!
