Parisian Bonsai Garden Inspires "Muse"

What do you get when you combine centuries-old Nepalese traditional rug making techniques with modern designs? Top quality custom hand knotted and hand tufted rugs from Rug Art.

One example of this magic combo is Muse, shown above, by Sigal Sasson which draws inspiration coming from both natural and urban sources. Sigal is a Venetian plaster artist, trained in scientific and botanical illustration. She creates designs by sketching natural elements and inspirations during her travels and daily life.

“I like to share my inspirations in the form of design. I try to capture what my eyes are seeing or what's in my head. I could be sitting in a cafe in Paris, or on a rickshaw in India in the middle of nowhere, and be inspired," Sigal explained.

The design inspiration for Muse came to Sigal during a recent trip to Paris. While visiting the Parc Flora de Paris, a contemporary zen-like botanical garden, Sigal discovered a unique display of magnificent bonsai trees. Their personality and informal aesthetic captured her attention and motivated her to design Muse.

The result? A contemporary and elegant design infused with rich color offers every angle to show off the miniature figurative bonsai. Muse is produced using hand knotted Himalayan wool infused with delicate renderings of bleached hemp combined with silk.
