GoDesignGo asked interior designer Laura Blanco about what she was thankful for this Thanksgiving and were quite surprised and delighted by her answers.
"I am thankful for Sarah Josepha Hale, 1788-1879. She was Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, and Anna Wintour all wrapped up in one brilliant package. She was an editor and preservationist, and appealed to five Presidents until Abraham Lincoln supported legislation for the establishment of Thanksfiving as a national holiday in 1863," Laura told us. "
She was also responsible for the preservation of George Washington's Mount Vernon."
Pointing out the lack of credit many may forget to give to the past, she continued: "I am also thankful for the architects from Palladio to Thomas Jefferson to Allan Greenberg. How often do we really stop to think of the importune of their work and how it impacts our lives?"
She didn’t forget to mention the preservationists. "I’m thankful for Richard Jenrette, who has spent the last 40 years of his life buying and meticulously restoring classical American architecture with the goal of leaving it all to his country when he's gone," explained Laura.
There's seems to be only one crucial thing an interior designer would include in her list of things she is faithful for: "My Clients! I love the journey. Every day is a new adventure," she told us.
What are you thankful for? Leave a comment with your list and in the meantime, check out Laura Blanco Interiors to see what she's up to.
