Where would we be without the invention of the light dimmer ? This past April, Joel Spira, chairman and founder of light control manufacturer Lutron Electronics, donated several items related to the company's 50-year history to the National Museum of American History in Washington, DC.
The items will reside within the archives of the Electricity Collection, alongside early models of light bulbs, transistors and other electronics. The donation includes an early version of the original solid-state Capri dimmer manufactured in September 1964, as well as a retail display with Spira's inventor's notebook and other Lutron lighting controls that show developments at the company over the past 50 years.
Several Lutron products are on display in the company's New York Experience Showroom, located on the ground floor of the D&D Building in Suite #138.
