Rubelli inspires with a magazine

To coincide with the debut of their latest collection, Rubelli, the Italian textile house founded in 1858, debuted a seriously beautiful magazine that rivals the quality of their textiles. Overseen by design legend Li Edelkoort, the 100+ pages showcase the new fabrics, which reference exotic locations like Venice, Istanbul, Shanghai, Samarkand and Kyoto (the city which inspired these four fabrics pictured above). The images are as intricately produced as an editorial magazine, clearly with a focus on the product but with a distinctively European, un-catalog eye. This is the homage to Istanbul:

And to Shanghai:

"Stories" include a profile of the latest in the Armani/Casa collection; a look into the history of designs by Gio Ponti, who made three fabrics for Rubelli in the middle of last century; and behind-the-scenes report on the making of weaving and production of the 12,000 meters of fabric (including 500 kilos of pure gold yarn) that forms the curtain at the renovated Bolshoi theatre in Russia. Should neutrals be more your speed, here's a taste of a story, photographed by Lisa Klappe, called "The Modern Nomad" which highlights Rubelli's Trevira collection:

There's also a handy nine-page index with detail shots of each new fabric, should you want to get straight to the point. Stop by the Donghia showroom, grab a seat and transport yourself to another world.
