New rugs, rooms at Stark

Stark is well-known for its roster of terrific brands and designers, ranging from French velvets to David Oliver's paint line. They've also embraced technology with the launch of the Stark iPad app, which enables you to browse the showroom and its myriad products from anywhere. It's always been a carpet company, and never content to rest on their laurels, there's lots new on that front debuting for Spring:

-The Tibetan Rug Room
The Tibetan Gallery is a renovated space (pictured above, with terrific views of the 59th Street bridge) with many new exclusive Stark designs.  There are over 100 new patterns and colors – both in-stock items and customized.

-The New Ikats
These colorful (and some neutral) carpets are handmade by Afghan artisans with natural dye and hand-spun wool. The one-of-a-kind pieces are available in large sizes.  These are particularly high quality – not created in a factory – and not mass produced. Here are just two examples:

-David Nosanchuck
The NYC-based architect, interior designer and product designer is the latest licensing collaboration for Stark. His rugs are defined by their three-dimensional quality which are gun tufted. This shot gives a sense of the dimensionality of Nosanchuck's designs:
