As one of the many main attractions at the DDB's Fall Market 2012, the Bloggers Lounge will be a one-stop-fix for design and lifestyle writers, editors and stylists. Co-sponsored by GoDesignGo and Editor at Large, the Andrew Martin-designed lounge welcomes 15 bloggers to cover market events. Today we want you to meet Susan Serra, who has owned and operated Susan Serra Associates, Inc., for 18 years and maintains the successful blog The Kitchen Designer.
Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) and Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), Susan is an award-winning designer and has served as a judge for innovative products at Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS). She is a consultant and a speaker in the US and abroad. A go-to source for the media on kitchen-design issues, Susan has been featured in Oprah.com, HGTV, The New York Times, LA Times, Martha Stewart radio and other media outlets.

"Having authored my blog since early 2007, I never tire of the freedom that writing my blog affords me," Susan said. "I can explore, report on and muse about any nuanced aspect of the world of kitchen design. That freedom, manifested in a joy to share my experience and knowledge, is always rewarding to me. I share kitchen design information on my blog as I am inspired, with no editorial or time pressure — I love the freedom and I think about kitchens... a lot!"
Susan explores new ways of thinking about kitchen design process, emerging trends, and redefining and celebrating tradition. Susan's work on The Kitchen Designer allows her to seek out design information from many different sources on a daily basis. In addition to her blog, Susan has just introduced her own collection of kitchen cabinetry, Bornholm Kitchen.
"Attending numerous design shows and exhibitions in the US and abroad has given me a fascinating perspective on interior and kitchen design," said Susan. "Living in the New York area affords me the opportunity to attend design shows, visit showrooms and boutique shops for design inspiration. I also attend press events, educational seminars and read design blogs for a well-rounded perspective on interior design."
Stay tuned to GoDesignGo to learn more about Susan and why her kitchen design background helps her understand her own personal design style so perfectly.
